Love of Reading

The Fin Foundation has been asked to come back to Oyama Elementary School to participaate in the Love of Reading Week! We will be reading to Ms. Fontes’s class Thursday morning! Should be a great time!

We went to Oyama Elementary School today and read to 2 different 5th grade classes… a book on recycling and then a little from a great book on sharks called The Secret Life of Sharks by Peter Klimley, Ph.D. Loved being able to talk about helping to save our oceans by recycling here in the desert AND getting to read from an engaging book about sharks! I think the kids had a great time too!

    To Whom it may Concern,

In the month of May 2011, I asked Mr. Sean Pipes to come in to share his expertise about the ocean to our third graders’. He gave 96 students his attention in an interactive hands on approach to the ocean environment. I must say his use of humor, honesty, and knowledge intrigued my class. He doesn’t know it yet but I am hoping he can visit this year and enlighten a new group of students. We must all be mindful of the ocean and water here in Arizona.

    Sincerely,
    Kerri Mendez
    P.S. I give him an A !!
