Ready for some ocean education?

Thanks to Shannon Ward for setting us up even though she ended up missing the presentation due to illness! Hope you feel better!

Went to Maricopa today for a few presentations! There are so many schools across the desert! Loved being able to bring a little bit of the ocean to them! We had 5th grades and they were really sharp! Lots of great comments and questions from the kids and teachers! Makes me smile knowing that we have so many intelligent kids spread out across Arizona! Love that the teachers are willing to incorporate the oceans into their teaching schedule!

Loved this school and these great kids!

We had a great time at St. Michael’s with their 1st grade classes! The students were so well mannered yet still had  loads of fun! Loved seeing that! The kids all had fun (the teachers too I think!) and i could see the information sinking in and their eyes light up when we talked about everything from sponges to polar bears! Looking forward to returning next year!

Being able to present in the library is great!

Had a great day at Desert Winds Elementary School! Our 2nd year of presenting to the entire school! New challenge since so many of the kids remembered us from last year! Glad we have new artifacts and information to share with them! We conducted 4 sessions overall and my voice is just about gone from all that talking! The students were amazing and really paid attention to all that we were doing! And had wonderful questions at the end of each presentation! That always keeps me on my toes! Looking forward to making this an annual event out in Picture Rocks!

We will have the honor of presenting to several groups of young children at Ocotillo Elementary School on May 11th! We are really looking forward to this presentation!

Laguna Elementary School – Our Amazing Oceans

  • May 6th, 2010 – 12:00 noon to 1:00pm
  • Laguna Elementary School, Tucson Az.
  • 66 4th graders
  • Our Amazing Oceans

We worked with the 4th grade classes at Laguna Elementary and it was great! These kids were curious, polite, and overall… just awesome! There were lots of great questions at the end of the presentation that made me realize how much these kids were thinking about all that we were talking about! Love that! The teachers continued the ocean theme after the presentation by discussing Mel Fischer’s Ocean treasure hunts! We need to have more and more teachers focus on the ocean like this here in the desert! Thanks Mrs. Wilson!
