Some tall ribs waiting to be restored...

Just wanted to post a quick update on the whale bone restoration! The bones are in pretty good shape overall, but some have certainly seen better days! We will be having a get together of volunteers to restore the bones (Museum restorer Michael Lee has given direction on how to do this process) sometime soon! I have included a few photos with the bones showing some of the cracks and weathering! We take these bones out to the schools and it is always a big hit with the kids!

Had a FANTASTIC presentation at the Holmes Tuttle  Clubhouse for the Boys and Girls Club of Tucson! Wonderful kids who were active in the art project and did some amazing illustrations! I am always intrigued by what the kids see as the most important feature to draw in an animal! The eyes of a crab verses its claws? The eyes were more important! Go figure! Thanks to Michael Scrantz for again giving up his time to help out with our presentation! I think his enthusiasm is contagious!

Discovering the secret lives of seastars!

Discovering the secret lives of seastars!

First presentation for the Boys and Girl’s Club of Tucson went really well! With the help of four (well, four and a half really) volunteers we were able to not only do a presentation about the ocean but also do an art project! Created an Ocean Mural with the kids adding their own renditions of sea creatures! What a great job they all did! Lots of fun for everyone! Gonna make another stop by this particular club and speak to the older kids as we only were able to speak to the 7-9 years old today!

Thanks so much to our volunteers for helping out today! Michael Schrantz, Manny Ramirez, Trish Wheeler and Kim Ludwig… and special guest Dante!

Summer Presentations for The Boy’s and Girl’s Club of Tucson

Great News! The Fin Foundation has agreed to do a series of presentations this summer for The Boy’s and Girl’s Club of Tucson! Over the summer months, the Fin Foundation will be conducting 6 presentations at the various clubhouses around the Tucson area! We will be work with large numbers of kids (200+) at each clubhouse and doing art projects in addition to speaking about ocean awareness and conservation! This is hopefully the start of a great friendship between our organization and the BGCT!
