Welcome to The Fin Foundation! We hope you find our website easy to use and a valuable tool for increasing marine science and ocean awareness in your community! We are currently scheduling activities throughout Southern Arizona (and Metro Phoenix), New Mexico, and Southwest Texas. Please feel free to look around, ask questions, sign up for a presentation and use our site to enhance your curriculum!

Who we are:

The Fin Foundation is a consortium of marine biologists, educators, ocean enthusiasts, photographers and community volunteers working to bring marine science and ocean awareness to communities across the Southwest.

We are a non-profit organization supported by donations from individuals, product sales, and corporate sponsors. If you are interested in making a donation or becoming a corporate sponsor, please see our contributions page. Soon you’ll be able to take a look at our shirts, stickers, artwork, and other items for sale in our catalog page! There will be lots of great products available and we will update them with new additions often! Rest assured that 100% of the proceeds go to running the Fin Foundation and bringing greater ocean awareness to our world!

What we do:

We bring the Ocean to the classroom!

The Fin Foundation reaches out into classrooms and community forums with presentations on ocean life and marine conservation. Using marine artifacts such as shark jaws and shells for hands on learning experiences, The Fin Foundation allows people who live far from the ocean to experience sea life close up! In addition to marine artifacts, the Fin Foundation uses vivid photography and video images to enhance presentations. The Fin Foundation presents to all ages from pre-school through college and for a wide variety of community groups.

The Fin Foundation provides marine aquariums, lab activities, books, educational DVD’s, and ocean artifacts to classrooms with a commitment to increasing ocean awareness. These items become the possession of the participating schools so that they may continue to use marine science in their curriculum.

The Fin Foundation provides scholarships to students in middle schools to assist in costs associated with marine biology field trips. We also give snorkeling and scuba equipment to marine biology students who stand out in their academic achievements and community service.

We are constantly looking into new ways of increasing Ocean awareness in communities across the Southwest. If you have any suggestions for the Fin Foundation, please contact us and we will do all that we can to provide the best possible service to our communities!
