Come join us as we help the Reid Park Zoo celebrate POLAR BEARS! We will have our booth up teaching about issues polar bears are facing in the wild and what we can do here in Tucson to help save these amazing animals!

Spreading the word about Polar Bears!

What a great day out at the Zoo! Lots of great kids and their families were out for the event and we spoke to them about polar bears, the zoo and conservation issues! Wonderful to see so many concerned citizens learning what they can do to help our planet! (and in turn POLAR BEARS!)

There were lots of teen volunteers out at the Zoo and it was amazing to know they are all dedicated to helping the zoo and the animals being cared for! We had the pleasure of meeting Gus (Tie and all!) who recently went to Churchill, Alaska on scholarship to see polar bears first hand! Loads of energy backed by a love of polar bears and the environment! A great ambassador for these animals!

Having Fun while Learning!

Lots of fun and learning at the Sonaran Science Acadamy for the 1st and 2nd graders! We covered so many areas of marine life and had the chance to talk about what they can do to help keep our oceans clean and healthy! The students were really well mannered and paid great attention! Sometimes we worry that young kids can’t keep focused for an hour at a time, but these students showed that they certainly can!

Love of Reading

The Fin Foundation has been asked to come back to Oyama Elementary School to participaate in the Love of Reading Week! We will be reading to Ms. Fontes’s class Thursday morning! Should be a great time!

We went to Oyama Elementary School today and read to 2 different 5th grade classes… a book on recycling and then a little from a great book on sharks called The Secret Life of Sharks by Peter Klimley, Ph.D. Loved being able to talk about helping to save our oceans by recycling here in the desert AND getting to read from an engaging book about sharks! I think the kids had a great time too!
