Love of Reading

The Fin Foundation has been asked to come back to Oyama Elementary School to participaate in the Love of Reading Week! We will be reading to Ms. Fontes’s class Thursday morning! Should be a great time!

We went to Oyama Elementary School today and read to 2 different 5th grade classes… a book on recycling and then a little from a great book on sharks called The Secret Life of Sharks by Peter Klimley, Ph.D. Loved being able to talk about helping to save our oceans by recycling here in the desert AND getting to read from an engaging book about sharks! I think the kids had a great time too!

MEGASCIENCE!!!!

We had a great time having our education booth up at the Booth Fickett MEGASCIENCE night! Special guest educators Adrian, Brian, and Jan set up the booth and entertained hundreds of kids and their families during the night! We used the penguin parent activity and had loads of fun seeing if the kids were ready to take care of an egg! Hopefully, we will get back to Booth Fickett again soon!

A great day at Oyama Elementary School as we talked to 5th graders ( with a few 4th graders as well!) We spent more time on sharks this time around and the kids really enjoyed it! Several were even given fossilized shark teeth for their correct answers to shark questions! A special Happy Birthday goes out to Ms. Fontes for having us out on her special day! (29 again was it?)

Getting ready to learn about critters!

We had an amazing time at St. Cyril! 3 classes all together in one room for an all out ocean experience! The 1st and 2nd graders were incredible! Lots of energy and inquisitive minds focused on learning about the amazing animals found in the sea! After more than an hour of hands on ocean exploration, the kids still had questions and big smiles! Thanks to all the teachers and especially to Ms. Gwozdz for having us come to St. Cyril

It is sooo much fun when you combine science with family fun nights! The Harelson Elementary Science night was a total success as we joined lots of other science programs (UA entomolgy group right next to us!) in sharing with these great kids and their families! And a rock band to boot!
