Kids helping one another learn about the oceans!

We had a really fun day as the 5th grade class was joined by their kindergarten reading buddies! We taught all of the students a little about the struggles that the ocean faces each day, and about how they can help fix the problem through recycling and reusing! The kids had a really fun time trying to figure out how penguins are able to move their eggs without breaking them and everyone had a great learning experience! Love coming to this school! Thanks for having us back so soon!

Hanging out in the sun on Earthday 2010!

Back at the Biosphere but this time for their Earthday 2010 celebration! Lots of other eco aware groups out in the mall area under tents set up by the Biosphere! We got there early and had a great time all day! Lots of people from all over the country came to see not only the Fin Foundation, but solar cars, planitary science booths, and other organizations looking to help our planet return to being strong and healthy! We were right next to the Marine Science club from the U of A and it was nice to see young scientists reaching out to the community! Thanks to Peter and Caroline for helping out today and for always being there when the Fin Foundation needs you!

Big smiles at the Presentation! Thanks Alyce!

I had an amazing time at this presentation! It was great to speak with people who have had many experiences in and around the oceans! I am sure that they could have taught me a thing or two! I appriciated meeting each and every person there but wanted to give a special thanks out to Alyce for her help setting up and taking down all of my artifacts! I love our picture!

A nice experience to present to an older group (ave age is 85!) and share their stories of the ocean and all its wonders! We love working with all ages and this will be a fun day for us!

Desert Christian High School – Sharks!!!

  • April 13, 2010 – 8:15am – 10am
  • Desert Christian High School
  • 25 seniors
  • Sharks lecture and discussion

Up close with the jaws of a white shark!

Had the pleasure of returning to Desert Christian High School this am and had a great time talking just about sharks (my favorite subject!)! I use the same lecture format as when I taught at the UofA and find these seniors are ready for this in-depth level of information! They have a great background in that they have been actively learning about the ocean for a while and have gone on trips to Catalina where they even dissected a dogfish! Lots of good questions were asked and I look forward to returning for a Marine Mammal lecture in a few weeks!
