The new Polar Bear skull was out for people to see close up!

Join the Fin Foundation at Reid Park Zoo as they have their “Free Day at the Zoo” event! There should be lots of people exploring the zoo and it is a chance to see marine mammals in the Desert! Boris and Koby will be out on exhibit showing off their white coats and regal Polar Bear attitudes! Should be loads of fun! Come join in!

We were up early and out for the entire day (I should have worn sunscreen!) at the Reid Park Zoo! Lots of family out and about seeing the wonderful animals at the zoo! The Polar Bears were doing their part as they were very active in the morning! We presented some of our artifacts and showed a lot of people who and what the Fin Foundation is about! And we were able to use the Polar Bear Skull reproduction for the first time! The people really loved having the chance to see how big these animals really are and learned a thing or two about saving our oceans, our wildlife and our planet! Thanks to Caroline for volonteering!

The great kids at Sonoran Science Academy!

Lots of fun at the Sonoran Science Academy!

Our first visit out to the Sonoran Science Academy and it was a blast! We saw two groups and they were amazing kids! Their brains were like little sponges soaking up the information about the oceans, the animals, and what we can do to help keep both of them healthy! There was one little guy that is bound to be a great marine biologist (as he was quick to point out a lot of cool facts about the ocean and its wildlife!) I really enjoyed seeing the campus as well and getting the feel for this charter school that does so well each year in all of the state testing! They work hard to do so well! Looking forward to coming back soon!

Accelerated Learning Lab – Our Amazing Oceans!

  • Accelerated Learning Lab
  • April 22nd, 2010 – 9am to 10am
  • 3rd thru 6th grade, 50 students
  • Our Amazing Oceans!!!

The older students were just as enthusiastic as the younger ones!

Our second presentation at ALL this week, for the older kids this time! The students had lots of great information about the ocean already and we had the chance to add to that foundation today! We love being able to add a little more depth and the hands on element to what these kids learn about the oceans… getting the chance to see the shark jaws and whale bones makes the information sink just a little more! And we have fun while doing it! This is a great school and we appreciate getting the chance to present here!

Desert Dolphins Scuba Club – “Marine Mammals of the Sea of Cortez”

  • Marine Mammals of the Sea of Cortez

Monthly meeting of the desert dolphins at El Parador!

Our second presentation for the Desert Dolphins Dive Club! A wonderful group of people brought together for the love of the ocean and the sport of SCUBA diving! What better place for the Fin Foundation to do a presentation on Marine Mammals!?! The members were attentive and enthusiastic as always and opened the hearts and minds to not only the plights of many Marine Mammals but also to that of the Fin Foundation! We had several donations and also many people pledge to volunteer in the future! Love that! Thank you to Kandie and Drew Vactor for your continued support and for always keeping the ocean’s health in mind!
