This was a great presentation for me! Dr. Thomson (Honorary Board Member for the Fin Foundation and dear friend of mine), his wife and son Kurt were on hand as we presented to the 3rd graders! Kurt’s son Sean is in one of the classes so it was kind of a big day! The students all seemed to get a kick out of learning about the oceans and in seeing all the artifacts that we brought in! The teachers have done a great job getting their kids tuned into science at this school! Looking forward to coming back next year!

Special thanks to my Mom and Brother who went out of their way to help at this presentation! Couldn’t have made it without you both!

Hollinger Elementary School – Our Amazing Oceans

  • Hollinger Elementary School – Tucson, Az.
  • May 25th, 2010 – 9am to 10am
  • Kindergarten – 70 students
  • “Our Amazing Oceans”

Great time at Hollinger eventhough we had a fire drill to start out the day! The kinders are so much fun, and so bright too! I think they asked some of the best questions ever! I was really impressed by one little girl who asked about the oil spill going on and why we needed to get oil from under the ocean and how we do that! I hope I managed to clarify that for her and that she continues to be so in touch with the environment and our amazing oceans!

Back at Tanque Verde Elementary School but this time we did our presentation in the science lab! Loved seeing all of the great effort being put into teaching science to elementary age students! They were celebrating Endangered Species Day and had all sorts of posters and projects up in the room! It was amazing! The kids were really excited also about the presentation and had some really good insight and questions at the end! I am looking for to TVES being a regular stop for us!

Lots of learning going on at Alma Elementary School!

The little ones joining in on learning!

What a great experience for me! Going back to Mesa for a presentation was wonderful! The presentations were fun and the kids were really attentive and tuned in to what we were talking about! Love the questions that all the different age levels came up with! they are able to take in and understand information so much younger

than most people give them credit for! Too bad this school is changing next year but hopefully some of the teachers will get in touch and have us join them in their new schools!
