Reid Park Zoo – Winter Lights Wrap up
Just a quick update on all the wonderful experiences we had at Reid Park over the month of December! The Fin Foundation tried to spend as many nights out at the zoo as possible! Usually 3 a week! Getting our volunteers coordinated was a challenge but well worth it as we were able to be at the zoo most Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights! We had to cancel a few times due to bad weather or schedule conflicts but that was the exception, not the rule!
The Fin Foundation presented our ocean artifacts, talked about sea life, conducted the Penguin Parent Run, and discussed Polar Bears to all the curious guests as they walked by our booth near the P.B. exhibit! Don’t know if they were expecting to learn about the ocean while at the zoo, but we did our best to make it fun and educational!
Pretty sure that we have the best volunteers in the world as they braved the cold, crowds and surely missed christmas parties and gave up their free time coming out each weekend! There were a total of 22 volunteers in the rotation! The Fin Foundation would like to send out a big thank you to each and every one of them as 2011 ends and the new year starts up! We couldn’t do this event without you!
