We were happy to go out to St. Alban’s pre-school where we presented to a great group of kids! The children all were laughing and smiling as we “swam” them through the animals of the ocean! As usual, sea turtles and whales were big hits, but the snails and sharks were a close 2nd! We hope that these presentations to really young kids starts them on the path of respecting the environment early on in their lives!!

What a great start to our school year! We presented to a wonderful group of students at Castlehill! The students were all really fun and eager to learn about our oceans! We were able to combine the two presentations and made it an hour and a half so each group got even more information! The students got a kick out of the shark jaws and of course the whale bones were a BIG hit!

It is always really nice when educators come up to us after a presentation and ask if they can schedule NEXT YEAR’s presentations right away! We know we are doing our jobs when they can’t wait to have us back! Thanks to all the staff and students at Castlehill for everything! Your donation will help us reach out to even more groups across the Southwest!

Meeting with Authors…

I had a great lunch/ meeting with Betty Hupp and Marilyn Malone, the authors of a wonderful book called The Edge of the Sea of Cortez : Tidewalkers Guide to the Upper Gulf of California! The book is an amazing guide to all of the inverts and organisms found as you walk the tidepools of The Sea of Cortez! I have gone through this book several times and always find myself smiling as it takes me back to the trips I made while teaching at the University of Arizona with Dr. D.A. Thomson! The authors put a huge amount of work into the design, scientific information, and flow of this book! If you are interested in the perfect book to take with you as you explore the sea, this would be a great choice! The Fin Foundation is working on being able to provide this book to some teachers who have committed to teaching marine science in their curriculum!
